The Road Team

The South Carolina Trucking Association Road Team, referred to as the “Road Team,” was formed in 1998 as a safety and public awareness program.

The mission of the Road Team is to enhance the professional standing of the truck driver, promote recognition and appreciation of the contributions trucking makes to our economy and our quality of life and to make South Carolina’s highways safer by placing the best professional truck drivers available before any group of interested citizens to discuss matters of sharing the road.

Each driver on the team is an example of trucking at its best — articulate, knowledgeable and dedicated. The driver is selected for the team on the basis of their safety record, leadership abilities, concern for the image of the trucking industry, and commitment to continuous improvement.

The Road Team drivers take a few days each month away from their work to travel and speak to various groups about highway safety and the trucking industry. These professionals speak to civic and traffic clubs, classrooms, media and local businesses across the state. They provide information on safe driving tips, sharing the road with trucks, hands-on experience with a tractor-trailer, career opportunities and facts on industry issues. We will also provide a tractor-trailer unit when possible.

This is a FREE service. Contact the South Carolina Trucking Association, 803-799-4306 or taryn@sctrucking.org, for more information on scheduling a team member to speak at your upcoming function. We will be happy to enhance your program.
