2026 SC TRUCK DRIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS DRIVER INFORMATION SHEET
Rookies, things you should know…  Veterans should review, as well! THINGS HAVE CHANGED.

REGISTRATION AT THE HOTEL

-    Check-in to receive your WRIST BAND; a schedule of events; a hat, etc.

-    Driver photos will be taken at registration, remove your hats/sunglasses and smile pretty!

-    Guests’ WRIST BANDS will be with your company representative(s).

-    Hotel keys are at hotel registration desk.  Each company handles this differently, so check with company rep prior to arrival.

-    Breakfast (buffet) for two is included with your room and will be open early on Saturday morning.

WHAT TO BRING

-    Sunscreen, gloves, pre-trip equipment, etc.

-    SCTA will provide UNO cards, playing cards and snacks in the den. (Lunch will be provided.)

-    You can bring a cell phone, but it will become the property of the Den Mother while you are competing.

ROLL CALL

-    Late arrivals/absences will be penalized and drivers may not be able to compete.  This applies to Friday and

Saturday – anytime roll call is taken.

-    Once you receive your running order badge, DO NOT LOSE IT.  Make sure to wear it throughout the entire competition.  Turn it in to the Den Mother after competing.

TEST

-    Study the Facts for Drivers book.  All questions come from the book.

-    During the test, drivers are not allowed to sit next to another member of your company team.

-    TIP: Leave your cell phone in your room or with your spouse/guest/company rep. They are not allowed during the test.

COURSE

- A virtual walk-through will be presented Friday night.  This is your time to ask questions and take notes.

- A silent walk-through will be conducted Saturday morning – no talking!

-   DEMERITS - Examples of possible demerits: failure to follow instructions (-25); failure to use 3-points of contact (-25).

-   When you complete the driving course, you must report back to the start line/finish line seating area to be escorted back to the den.  Do not visit guests/spectators in the tents, do not walk across the course. (POSSIBLE PENALTIES!)

-   Do not leave den until released by the Den Mother. Drivers will be released when both the Road Course and Pre-trip Inspections have been completed.

PRE-TRIP

-    Use your “typical” pre-trip equipment.

-    When you return to the Den, do not discuss what you saw.....you’ll only hurt yourself. Remember it’s a competition and you may be penalized!

-    DEMERITS - Failure to follow instructions includes (but is not limited to) fixing defects, turning key, starting engine, and calling out every item checked/inspected in an attempt to name all possible defects that were planted.

AWARDS BANQUET NEEDS

-    Let SCTA know if you need to purchase additional Awards Banquet Bands BEFORE registration closes Friday evening.

-    Reception from 6-7pm in the pre-function area (far end) of the banquet room.

-    Driver competitor and one companion/guest included (non-company representative) in driver registration fee; Adults are $65; children 6-13 are $30; children 5 and under are free.
