A Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Charitable and Educational Foundation

The South Carolina Trucking Association Foundation (SCTAF) was formed in 2004 upon approval of the South Carolina Trucking Association (SCTA) Board of Directors.  The SCTAF was established as a publicly funded organization to sponsor activities which will focus on highway safety, charitable projects, scholarships, media programs and other industry issues.  This foundation aims to foster and promote more comprehensive public understanding of the trucking industry.  The SCATF is directed by a separate Board of Directors consisting of eleven (11) members.

The South Carolina Trucking Association Foundation is a 501(C)3 organization founded in 2004 by an endowment to the South Carolina Trucking Association. Its mission is the advancement of highway safety and a trucking industry that is both safe and efficient. Education Drives Safety is our slogan.

The Corporation is organized for the purpose of operating exclusively for charitable, educational and/or scientific purposes.  In furtherance of its charitable purpose, the activities of the Corporation will be primarily to promote and advance highway safety and a safe trucking industry through research, education and promotional and educational projects, and to do all things incidental or related thereto including but not limited to awarding scholarships, conducting media programs associated with highway safety and promoting or conducting other charitable related activities that would be beneficial to promoting highway safety or the trucking industry.

The SCTAF seeks to institute, sponsor, establish, foster and promote educational programs and research projects in the trucking industry including but not limited to career counseling, student tuition assistance, and public driving safety education and to improve the public image of the industry and its employees.  The Organization looks to accomplish its mission through the following projects:

I. Media Programs – Use of radio and TV public service announcements to disseminate safety messages and messages about the importance of trucking to the country’s life style.

II. Scholarships - The foundation aims to offer scholarships to deserving students wishing to pursue careers in transportation especially in the maintenance and operational disciplines. 

III. Charitable Projects - projects that offer opportunities to gain public recognition.

IV. Education Programs - safety education, trucking industry career education.  Develop safety promotional materials for distribution at rest stops, seminars, etc.
