Jared Bishop, Safety Director for Associated Petroleum Carriers (APC), Spartanburg, has been selected as the 2015 Safety Professional of the Year by the South Carolina Trucking Association.
The SC Safety Professional Award is reserved for high achievers in the field of truck safety management, and those who have been most active and long-serving in SCTA’s safety programs and activities.
Mr. Bishop has been very active with SCTA since joining APC 11 years ago, chairing both the Safety Management Council and Truck Driving Championships, providing safety and hazardous material training on behalf of SCTA, and performing many other services for the membership and outside groups.
He holds a Class A CDL with endorsements, and is a NATMI Certified Director of Safety. He was instrumental in development of APC’s comprehensive Safety Program, and has responsibilities in the handling and settlement of liability claims and well as their in-house physical damage program.
His other credentials include an Associate’s Degree from Southern Wesleyan University, a BS from the University of South Carolina in Information Management, and a Certified Instructor in the Smith System of Defensive Driving.
His community service includes serving as president of the South Spartanburg Youth Athletic Association, and at his Philadelphia Baptist Church as a Royal Ambassador Leader (program for young boys), a Trustee, and past chair of the Board of Deacons.
Mr. Bishop and his wife, Teri, have three sons and reside in Pauline.
