The award for Most Improved Truck Safety is presented to the company whose overall safety record improved the highest percentage over last year. This percentage is based on the accident frequency rate per million miles traveled.
Mr. Stevenson has 42 years of commercial driving and over 4.5 million career miles. He has been with Spinx over 13 years and has driven over 1 million of his career miles with them. Spinx management say that “Degrant gets the job done on time and correctly. He is a good steward and represents the company as a professional driver, gentleman, and genuinely. He is a good man."
Mr. Grimes began as a technician at 18 years old. He is master technician and Shealy’s lead technician for Advanced diagnostics. He is known for always willing to lead and teach other technicians and management says he truly connects with people at a personal level.
Mr. Shorb is the Safety Director for Wal-mart Stores in Laurens, SC. Over the years has provided service in many ways to SCTA. He’s always just a phone call away to assist staff with special requests, lend a truck or driver for outreach, or be a resource for a fellow member. Mr. Shorb has spent countless years serving with the Truck Driving Championships as a volunteer, leader, and judge. He’s a dedicated employee, former truck driver, and avid family man.

This year, companies that entered the Truck Safety Contest traveled over 191 million miles on South Carolina’s highways during 2016.
The truck Driver of the Month program was initiated to recognize those drivers who have excelled during their careers of safe driving.
