Charles Biggerstaff of Southeastern Freight Lines has been selected as the Second Quarter 2010 Technician of the Quarter. Charles, an eight year employee of Southeastern, serves as third shift leadman at the Columbia location. Through tried and true repair practices, Charles has been able to train three technicians in the past year while keeping his direct labor costs well within the standards. Under his tutelage as a fully ACE certified technician, he has taken the trainees and turned them into great entry level technicians. One of the largest contributions Charles has made to the Southeastern Freight Lines maintenance program is the use of a tethering system for rooftop trailer repair. He personally traveled to all twenty one of the shops to see it implemented properly. “Charles is a true workhorse…We are a much better company for having him as part of our team,” states supervisor Jimmy Eargle. He and his wife, Gwen, have four children and five grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and softball and spending time with his grandkids. The South Carolina Trucking Association’s Maintenance Council created the Technician of the Quarter program in order to recognize outstanding contributions by diesel technicians. The winning technicians are selected utilizing a board of industry professionals who select the most deserving candidate based on professionalism, his/her contributions to the industry, attitude, accomplishments and civic responsibility. If you are a member of the SCTA, and have a technician that has contributed to the betterment of their co-workers, their company and the profession, nominate them for the Technician of the Quarter.
